About Student Welfare Committee

The Student Welfare Committee (SWC) is constituted to ensure the holistic development, well-being, safety, and discipline of students. The committee functions in accordance with the guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC), Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), and institutional policies to create a safe, inclusive, and student-centric campus environment.

Objective

  • To enrich the welfare of students for their overall academic, physical, and personal development.
  • To ensure effective planning and implementation of student welfare schemes as per institutional and regulatory guidelines.
  • To maintain a safe, disciplined, and ragging-free campus.
  • To promote awareness regarding student welfare measures, rights, and responsibilities.
  • To support inclusive education by extending facilities to students with special needs.

Functions of Student Welfare Committee

  • To plan, implement, and monitor various student welfare activities and schemes.
  • To plan, execute, and monitor student welfare schemes of the Board of Students Welfare (BSW), SPPU.
  • To make students aware of various scholarships and financial support schemes of the State Government, SPPU, and other funding agencies.
  • To ensure proper utilization and monitoring of the Student Welfare Fund.
  • To provide free mess facilities to needy and economically weaker students as per norms.
  • To extend physical and infrastructural facilities to students with special needs on the campus.
  • To ensure discipline on campus and take preventive measures against indiscipline, misbehavior, and ragging.
  • To handle student grievances and recommend suitable remedial and corrective measures.
  • To process and supervise the formation of the Student Council as per SPPU norms.
  • To ensure proper follow-up of college and hostel discipline rules and regulations.

Formation of Committees

The institute constitutes the following committees as per UGC and SPPU guidelines to ensure student welfare, discipline, and a safe campus environment:

  • Student Welfare Committee (SWC)
  • Anti-Ragging Committee
  • Anti-Ragging Squad
  • Student Council

Anti-Ragging Policy

The institution strictly adheres to the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and punishable as per UGC norms.

Acts Constituting Ragging

  • Any act of teasing, harassment, or rude behavior towards a fresher or student.
  • Physical or psychological abuse including bullying, humiliation, or intimidation.
  • Forceful acts causing embarrassment, fear, or discomfort.
  • Financial extortion or exploitation of students.
  • Disruption of academic activities or campus harmony.

Process and Implementation

  • Formation of various Anti-Ragging committees and squads as per UGC guidelines to ensure a ragging-free and disciplined campus.
  • Formation and supervision of Student Council activities.
  • Planning, execution, and monitoring of student welfare schemes under Board of Students Welfare (BSW), SPPU.
  • Organization of awareness programs, orientation sessions, workshops, and counseling services for students.
  • Providing free mess facilities and financial assistance to needy students.
  • Extending physical and academic support facilities to students with special needs.
  • Regular monitoring of campus, hostels, and common areas through inspections and vigilance.
  • Prompt investigation, documentation, and action on complaints received through institutional or national grievance mechanisms.

Complaint Redressal Mechanism

Students can report grievances or incidents related to ragging, discipline, or welfare issues to the Student Welfare Committee or Anti-Ragging Committee. Complaints may also be registered through the National Anti-Ragging Helpline (1800-180-5522). All complaints are handled confidentially and resolved promptly as per established procedures.
